Village Manager Notes
Village Manager Denis Aslinger announced two open Council seats with appointments to be considered at the May 13 meeting. Any registered voter in the Village is eligible. Council meets the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday each month plus committee assignments.
Library Repairs
Window deglazing, minor repairs, and repainting will be completed over the next few months. New storm windows will be installed afterward. Landscaping will be refreshed in the fall.
Alley Paving
Three sections will be paved this spring: the alley between High and North streets (Exchange to Main), between North and Walnut (Church to Main), and the gravel section off Court Street.
Lights Up the Night Festival
The annual festival runs June 28, 2025, with food trucks, bouncy houses, craft vendors, and fireworks (dedicated to Virginia Kinney). This kicks off the year-long America 250 celebration.
America 250 Grant
The Pleasant Hill Events Committee received a $5,000 grant from the Ohio America 250 Committee, one of 57 communities statewide. Funded projects include a Pawpaw tree grove with ODNR, a mural in the center of the Village, and plays and dramas of historical figures (Nathan Hill’s father, the first slave to vote in Miami County, Ellie Wampler, Jesse Beery, Mike Sells, and Teflon inventor Roy Plunkett). The finale festival is June 27, 2026.
Tree Commission Academy Graduation
Mike Waller graduated from the Tree Commission Academy, a 50-hour training program from the Ohio Division of Forestry. He completed four sets of classes.
Outdoor Season Ordinance Reminders
Reminders for spring and summer: grass under 7 inches, weeds removed from sidewalks and gutters, peeling paint refreshed, junk items and inoperable vehicles removed, only one boat or trailer per property (street limit 24 hours), expired auto tags handled, permits required for chickens, golf carts, fences, and decks, porches not used for storage, sidewalks unblocked, and no grass blown into the street.
Energy Aggregate
Residents will receive aggregate rate letters once the energy market settles. Options include staying with current contract, taking the offer, or finding a new contract. Contact Bob Snavely at bsnavely@palmerenergy.com with questions.
