Pleasant Hill village council held a special meeting to respond to the Miami County Auditor’s request regarding the inside millage rate.
- Following a 35% increase in property valuations, council reviewed how different millage rates would impact residents and village revenue.
- Maintaining the 1.4 mill rate would have increased village property tax revenue by roughly $14,000 compared to last year.
- The Auditor recommended reducing the rate to 1.1 mills to avoid creating a revenue windfall for the Village of Pleasant Hill.
- Village council voted to reduce the inside millage rate to zero for one year to provide maximum tax relief to residents.
- For a home valued at $300,000, the change prevents additional inside millage property tax costs for taxes collected in 2026.
- Officials confirmed that Pleasant Hill’s financial reserves and strong income tax collections allow the village to absorb the temporary revenue loss.
- Council suspended the three-reading rule and adopted Resolution 2025-21 as an emergency to meet the December 5 deadline.
- The inside millage rate will be reviewed again next year as part of the annual budget and planning process.
