Key Highlights from the April 23, 2026 Pleasant Hill Village Council Meeting

  • Pleasant Hill village council approved the second reading of Resolution 2026-07, which authorizes the village to purchase the former funeral home at 1 South Main Street for $299,000.
  • The 1 South Main Street purchase includes the adjacent parking lot near the History Center and would keep the prominent downtown property under village control.
  • Potential uses for the property include relocating village offices, creating a community center, or providing space for community gatherings and programs.
  • An inspection of the 1 South Main Street property is expected to cost just under $1,000 and can be paid from funds set aside for closing costs.
  • The property’s Federal Pacific electrical box was identified as an insurance concern, but the current owner is working with Miami County to have it permitted and replaced before closing.
  • If the property inspection identifies significant required repairs, the village council can address those costs or conditions before the purchase is finalized.
  • Pleasant Hill village council plans to introduce Ordinance 1172 to address water utility billing problems in multi-family rental properties.
  • The proposed utilities ordinance would require landlords to provide separate water taps for individual units or take responsibility for the building’s entire water bill.
  • The proposed water ordinance is intended to prevent water shutoffs from affecting tenants who have paid their bills when other tenants in the same building are delinquent.
  • The village council considered ways to reduce noise and odors from food trucks at Monument Park, including installing a 50-amp electrical hookup to reduce the need for gasoline generators.
  • The Light Up the Nights festival continues to need additional volunteers and funding to support the community event.
  • The next regular Pleasant Hill village council meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2026.
