Quick answer: This sets the rules for operating a food truck or mobile food vehicle in the Village. It covers the license you need, which zones and hours are allowed, how far you have to stay from restaurants, and how you can serve customers.
What you need to know
- What it covers: Any non-permanent motorized vehicle or licensed trailer set up to serve food or drinks.
- License: You need a mobile retail food service license from the County Health Department, displayed at all times while operating.
- Allowed zones: Special (S), Business (B-1), and Manufacturing/Industrial (M) zoning districts.
- Hours: 7:00 am to 10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 7:00 am to 11:00 pm Friday and Saturday. The truck must be removed daily when not operating.
- Distance from restaurants: Must stay at least 175 feet from a restaurant while that restaurant is open (measured from the restaurant’s property line to the closest point of the truck).
- Where it can set up: On private property with the owner’s consent, following the distance rules.
- Serving: Serve customers only from the sidewalk-side or curbside of the vehicle.
