Long time Pleasant Hill resident Joy (Laudenslayer) Stubbins turned 100 Years Young on Monday, November 30th. Joy grew up in the Village of Pleasant Hill and Graduated from Newton High School in 1938. After graduation, Joy moved to the Dayton area and worked for the Dayton Daily News.

As the Mayor, I was fortunate enough to call Joy and wish her a Happy Birthday. What an honor and privilege to speak to a 100 year young lady, who was very sharp and told me how she grew up on East High Street, and with her parents, Frank & Opal Laudenslayer. Her parents worked at Cecil's Grocery Store owned by Russ & Hazel Cecil during the depression. She remembers watching outside movies on the Drug Store wall and remembered when the Civil War Monument didn't have caution lights.

Currently, Joy is in living in a Senior Center, where she is very active in the center's activity. The Smucker's Jelly Jar (below) from the Today Show says she's from Warwick, Rhode Island, but if ask Joy where home is, she says, "Pleasant Hill, Ohio."
