Veteran’s Day is a National Holiday celebrated each year on November 11th. This day was originally referred to as Armistice Day marking the anniversary of the end of World War I in 1919. In 1938, this day became a national holiday. In 1954, this day was changed to encompass the time served by all United States Veterans.
"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation." -- President George Washington
